What are some things a person can do to become a better basketball player?

1. Work on your hands:

Many players make the mistake of trying to guard players who are much taller than them. This is a very bad idea! What happens is that the taller player will use his height to gain an advantage and score easy points. If you insist on playing against taller opponents, try to pick players who are about your height. This will give you a chance to at least put up a fight.

2. Work on your jump shot:

The second most common mistake players make when shooting the ball is shooting it too soon. They wait until they are ready to shoot instead of getting into the flow of the game. The first thing you should do when you are practicing your jump shot is to concentrate on making sure you get off fast and get into the game’s flow as quickly as possible.

3. Work on your ball-handling skills:

If you want to be a good basketball player, you have to be able to pass the ball. There are many ways you can improve your ball-handling skills. One of the best ways is by dribbling the ball between your legs. Not only does this work on your ball-handling skills, but it also gets your heart pumping and keeps you loose. 

4. Work on your court vision:

You should concentrate on when you are shooting the ball to make sure you are always looking for the open man. You should always be thinking, “Where do I need to be to help my teammates?” Instead of thinking, “How high can I jump?” Remember, if you are always thinking about how high you can jump, you will end up shooting with both feet off the floor, which will cause you to lose control of the ball. Instead, what you should be concentrating on is “Where do I need to be to pass the ball or shoot the ball?” 

5. Work on your concentration:

This point is more of a general point than a specific point but, it is still very important. Concentration is one of those things that is a natural byproduct of practice. If you want to improve your concentration, all you have to do is keep at it! Don’t get too hung up on trying to concentrate in the midst of a game. That’s when you’ll need it! Try to concentrate during practice. That’s when you can afford to be sloppy because it is only you and the ball.

If you are sloppy during practice, you will become much more concentrated during a game. It is a natural progression. As you can see, there are many ways you can improve your jump shot. However, the most important thing you can do simply keeps shooting until you become good at it. Don’t worry about how high you are shooting or how far you are jumping. Just keep shooting and working and working and shooting! Soon enough, you will get to a point where none of those things matter, and you will be able to concentrate on pure shooting form.

How the height affects the performance of other athletes?

Naturally, the taller an athlete is, the more advantage a taller athlete has over other athletes. This is especially true in sports like basketball, football, and baseball. Being tall helps an athlete obtain and maintain a good position on the playing field.

But what about the shorter players? Well, in these sports, being short can be a definite disadvantage. Take the case of a player who is 6’4″ and weighs 210 pounds. He will have a distinct size and weight advantage over every opponent he faces.

However, if you were to measure the strength of his leg muscles, you would find that they are only about half as strong as the leg muscles of a player who is only 5’7″ and weighs 185 pounds. Now, a player with weaker leg muscles than this cannot play basketball.
